2020 BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION
We are currently taking nominations for the Board of Directors for two-year terms starting in 2020. To nominate someone to participate in the election, the following is required:
The Society’s annual board election is conducted by mail. Nominations for the 2020 election must be received by Thursday, October 31, 2019. The nominees will consist of those who express interest in writing, are supported by at least two other members, and meet the qualifications given below, in addition to any nominees recommended by the board. Members will receive the slate via written ballot either in the Fourth Quarter 2019 Lines South, or via a separate mailing, together with necessary instructions and the voting deadline (expected to be not later than January 15, 2020). This year there are four (4) Board seats open. Rules and qualifications:
a) Any member of the Society in good standing may be nominated for election as a Director.
b) Nominations for candidates for election shall be made by any two (2) other Society members in good standing; candidates may not nominate themselves. Nominations may be made by letter or e mail, and will be sent to the Recording Secretary as specified below:
A.B. Dean, Recording Secretary, ACL & SAL HS – 8390 Hedgewood Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32216 –
E mail: email@example.com
NOMINATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5:00 PM EASTERN TIME, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2019.
Nominations received after the deadline, or that are not in conformance with the rules and requirements below, will be disqualified.
c) Nominations shall include the full names and contact information of both the nominee and those making the nomination. The Recording Secretary will verify that both the nominee and those making the nomination are Society members in good standing as of October 31, 2019.
d) In the case of incumbent members of the Board who wish to run for re-election, the incumbent will indicate his intention to seek re-election by sending a notice to the Recording Secretary.
e) The nominations will be closed effective with the deadline above. A ballot will then be prepared with all nominees found to be properly nominated, qualified, and willing to serve. No nomination shall be binding on the nominee to stand for election unless he or she accepts the nomination in writing by response to a notice issued by the Recording Secretary. The ballot and instructions will be mailed to all Society members in good standing as of October 31, 2019, with the Fourth Quarter 2019 issue of Lines South, or via a separate mailing to members.
f) Nominees run for the open Board seats available in a given year; do not run against any specific candidate or incumbent; and do not run for any specific officer position. (The Society’s officers are chosen by the Board members following their election each year.)
g) Once a nomination has been properly made and accepted by the nominee, within five (5) days of acceptance the nominee shall prepare and forward to the Recording Secretary a statement of interest and qualification for election not to exceed one-hundred fifty (150) words, which will be published with the candidate’s name and address on the 2020 ballot. Nominees are to limit their remarks to their qualifications, interests, and goals for the Society. The Board reserves the right to edit or reject candidacy statements that in its judgment are not consistent with the mission of the Society, are not within the bounds of good taste, or that do not promote a constructive atmosphere for the election.
h) Nominees may withdraw their names from election for any reason at any time up until one week before ballots are counted. Such withdrawal shall also be in written form and delivered to the Recording Secretary.
Direct any questions to A.B. Dean, Recording Secretary, ACL & SAL HS, at the address above.
NOMINATIONS CLOSE ON OCTOBER 31, 2019
